How To Beat Temptation

Pastor Adedayo Anjorin talks on how to beat temptation.  This was preached in thr  “TAKE THEM TO HEAVEN” broadcast (Sunday 10-04-2022).  PASTOR’S  TOPIC is  – HOW CHRIST HELPS IN TEMPTATION.

HOW TO BEAT TEMPTATION

The Bible tells us that the son of God Jesus came to earth not only to take away our sins but also to destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8 – The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.

First Peter chapter 1 tells us that our wonderful Lord Jesus took the punishment for our sins on his own body on calvary’s cross.

1 Peter 2:24 – He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His stripes you are healed.

STORMS IN OUR LIFE

Our saviour is able to help us in coping with storms that come into our life.   Jesus not only carried our sins, becoming our substitute.  Additionally scripture informs us that when he came to this earth in flesh and blood he was made  in every way like us and was tempted just as we are;  yet he was without sin.

Hebrews 4:15 – we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Our wonderful Lord Jesus was hungry and thirsty just like us, and he lived with human desires.  He was tempted in every respect like we are yet without sin. The good news is that because he suffered from temptation and endured it he is able to help those of us today who are being tempted. So today it’s good news that Christ Jesus is not only our sin bearer  but also the helper who stands by your side in times of temptation.
