When anyone asks a Christian , ” What is the blessed hope?”, he or she should always reply with one answer. It is the wonderful hope of seeing the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the clouds of earth to take his brothers and sisters home to heaven to dwell with him eternally. Messenger Marcus preaches on this great event.

When Will We All Die?
No matter how fit we may feel, we all know that death is a certainty. We ask the question, “ when will we all die?” it may seem a long way away but surely it will come. The scripture tells us in Hebrews
Heb 9 verse 27 – It is appointed unto man once to die but after this the judgement .
Death came into the world because of the transgressions and disobedience of our first parents Adam and Eve in the beautiful garden that God had created for them; that is the Garden of Eden. We know that in the garden Adam and Eve disobeyed God and scripture tells us is Romans chapter 5 that consequently death came upon all the human race.
Rom 5:12 – Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.
Two Kinds Of Death
The Bible indicates there are two kinds of death. The first is the natural death that comes upon us. This ‘ natural’ death occurs when our heart stops beating. ( We can also consider ‘ brain death’ as valid natural death also). The bible describes this death in the book of Ecclesiates in a very poetic manner.
Remember Him before the silver cord is snapped and the golden bowl is crushed, before the pitcher is shattered at the spring and the wheel is broken at the well, 7before the dust returns to the ground from which it came and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
We see from this that the body becomes dust. However, the spirit of man returns to God who created it
Bible Spiritual Death
Spiritual Death is separation from God, where is natural death separation from the environment around us. The Lord Jesus told us a parable concerning spiritual death
Luke 16: 23 to 25 – ( The rich sinner in Hades), where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham from afar, with Lazarus by his side. 24Sohecried out,‘FatherAbraham, have mercy onmeandsendLazarustodipthetipofhisfingerin waterandcoolmytongue.ForI am in agonyinthisfire.’ 25But Abraham answered, ‘Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things. But now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.…
The Apostle Paul also spoke of a terrible experience of separation from everything that is good and beautiful and wonderful and holy for all eternity. That is spiritual death.
2 Thess 1:8, 9– ……. vengeance on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Theywill sufferthe penaltyof eternaldestruction, separated fromthe presenceof theLordandthegloryofHismight,
The Blessed Hope Of The Believers
Christ and His salvation is the blessed hope of the believers. Scripture describes our God as the God of ALLhope, (Rom 15:13). No living person needs to face the judgement of God. Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ took the punishment for our sins on the cross of Calvary. There is great news for all who put their faith in Him as saviour; the Lord Jesus declared in John 5:24 – “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life (New Living Translation.)
Lift Your Head Up High
All living people today should be looking to the skies for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul told us that there will be one time in history when Christ will come and take the living ones who are on the earth at that time, to be with Him.
1 Thess 4: 13 to 18 – And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
15We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.g16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have diedh will rise from their graves. 17Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18So encourage each other with these words.
Thank God, we can say to those who have trusted Christ as saviour, “Lift your head up high.” You will never die – but you have eternal life and Jesus will take you to your eternal home AMEN.
